Chiropractic utilizes a manual approach to health care. This includes patient assessment, diagnosis and treatment. In particular, chiropractors assess patients for disorders related to the musculoskeletal and nervous system. As a result of taking a physical assessment and patient history, chiropractors are able to provide a differential diagnosis for the patient’s presenting condition(s) and develop a comprehensive treatment/management plan in order to optimize performance and function. Our Chiropractors are also trained to deliver specific exercise progrmas, as well as to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling to assist the body in healing itself.

Acupuncture produces many of its effects by stimulating nerve receptors in skin and muscle. Various substances are released that cause an increase of local blood flow that encourages tissue healing.
- Acupuncture helps to reduce pain locally where the needles are inserted and throughout the body.
- Acupuncture has a calming effect and produces well-being.
- Acupuncture inactivates myofascial trigger points.
The contemporary scientific explanation of acupuncture is that needling certain points in the body stimulates the nervous system to release chemicals in the brain, spinal cord and muscles. These chemicals will change the experience of pain, or they will trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones which influence the body’s own internal regulating system. The improved energy and biochemical balance produced by acupuncture results in stimulating the body’s natural healing abilities, and by promoting physical and emotional well-being.
Acupuncture can be effective as a solitary treatment, or as an adjunct to other therapeutic interventions. The World Health Organization recognizes the use of acupuncture in the treatment of:
- Sports related injuries and other movement disorders;
- Musculoskeletal pain problems: neck pain, shoulder pain, low back pain, joint pain;
- Chronic pain: headaches, sciatica, osteoarthritis, neuritis and facial pain;
- Digestive disorders: irritable bowel, constipation, diarrhoea and gastritis;
- Menstrual and reproductive problems: dysmenorrhea, perimenopausal
- Respiratory problems: sinusitis, asthma, sore throat and recurrent respiratory tract infections;

The definition of rehabilitation is to restore to good health or useful life, as through therapy and education. When an injury occurs to an area of the body, a systematic approach to recovery must be put in place to allow for full, functional recovery. Whether it be returning to sport after a knee injury or helping to alleviate that low back pain as a result of sitting at the computer all day, a team approach is vital in allowing for a full return to optimal healing. An integrated and personalized active care program is where our team specializes.

Physiotherapists work in partnership with individuals of all ages to break down the barriers to physical function whether that means working with patients who have suffered athletic injuries, pre and post surgery, helping people come back from illness and chronic disease, industrial and motor vehicle accidents and age related conditions.
